Santa Will Get Your Letter
If you or your kids feel the last minute need to make a pitch to Santa about why you should be on the Good List, then you are in luck!
Canada Post, recently mandated back to work, has stated that they will ensure Santa gets your letter.
If you get your opus of goodness in the mail by December 23, Canada Post is guaranteeing delivery, be it by plane, sleigh, snowmobile, or reindeer, to the big guy in the red suit.
Unfortunately, however, due to the labour disruption, Canada Post won’t be able to get any mailed responses back in time this year.
And also, let’s be honest, Santa has better things to do starting now, than responding to any last minute beggings for deliverance from evil.
So dust off your paper and pen, and start penning that annual letter to Santa. You’ve only got a few days left!
Daily Poll
50/50 to Retirement?
The travel poll was a tight one! 51% of you said travelling during the holidays is kinda crazy and you won’t do it. I didn’t think it would be so close!
50/50 - are you the gambling sort?

Fire Services Input
Another week, another city survey.
This time, the City of Thunder Bay is asking for your input on asset spending as it relates to the City of Thunder Bay Fire Rescue Service.
The TBFRS provides responses from its 8 stations on fires suppression, auto extraction, hazardous material spills, industrial accidents, medical response, high/low angle rescue, ice water rescue, and confined space rescue.
As the city prepares budgets for 2025, they would like all of your input (I know, right, can you believe it?!) on if the TBFRS is delivering the level of service, and bang of your tax buck, that you expect.
So here you go, another chance to let em’ know what you think!

Giving Tuesday a Massive Success
On December 3, the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation held it’s annual Giving Tuesday Campaign.
They raised $47,570.85, beating their goal of $40,000.
That total is being matched by the Sandra Schmirler Foundation, bringing the total amount raised to $91,770.85.
The money is being used to create a second fully equipped Paediatric Transfer Deck for the Paediatric Emergency Transfer Team.
This equipment will allow for two paediatric patients to be transported simultaneously, improving response times and allowing for more access to care to children in remote communities.
And while of course the Foundation is the spearhead in the campaign, it’s all of you Thunder Bay’ers helping to make it possible with your generosity.
Thank you!

TBPS Seeks Budget Increase
The Thunder Bay Police Service has proposed a 5.1% operating budget increase for 2025, bringing the total police budget to $59.1 million.
TBPS believes the city won’t be happy with that, as the initial call for an increase by the city was 3.8%, but, stopping these as*holes criminals from doing their thing costs money.
The police services board approved the budget on their end, and have now sent it to city council.
Wages, or boots on the ground, are the biggest reasons for the cost increase.
Given the state of things around here, I don’t see how the city could opposed it…

The province has released the most popular names chosen by those who won’t see the comfy side of a pillow for longer than an hour at a time for the foreseeable future.
Being that we’re unique, the North, has a slight different set of top names than the rest of the province.
Here’s what new parents picked in order of popularity this year:

First Nations News
Evacuation to Thunder Bay
The city of Thunder Bay has been asked to house about 200 evacuees from Kashechwan First Nation.
The first batch of evacuees arrived yesterday, with the remainder expected to arrive between today and the end of the weekend.
The reason for the evacuation is ongoing issues with the communities water treatment plant (I swear someone in Ottawa once said they’d solve all these water quality issues…).
It’s anticipated the evacuees will spend approximately two weeks in Thunder Bay, depending on how the repairs progress.
