Analysis

Tariffs Impact on NWO

The 25% tariffs (should they happen) imposed by the U.S. present a formidable challenge to the economic well-being of Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario. These tariffs threaten to disrupt the region's close economic ties with the U.S., potentially leading to a decline in exports, increased costs for businesses, and job losses.

The effects could be felt across various sectors, including forestry, mining, manufacturing, and small businesses. Moreover, the tariffs could increase the cost of living for residents, particularly those on fixed incomes and in remote Indigenous communities.
